In this article, I'll be covering iPad & iPhone applications that you can purchase or download for free. I will cover what each application does. I have personally found these to be invaluable in my own studies, and I hope that my personal list of applications will assist you in your studies. All apps' are for the iPad unless marked (iPhone).

A Hebrew bible application with an english translation.  All five books of Moses and the Prophets.  Hebrew Audio playback (requires an internet connection).

Pocket Tehillim by Gp Imp Free

King David wrote 150 psalms.  Both Hebrew & English translations of these famous religious songs.

Kitzur by Rusty Brick, Inc. $14.99

Full access to the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch.  Browse the 221 Simanim, quick keyword searches for specific Jewish law, bookmarking, an integrated random Halacha tab to learn random Jewish laws, email the complete halacha to your friends or Rabbi.  There is an in-app upgrade for the English translation, otherwise this app is 100% in Hebrew.

MMinyan by MMinyan, Inc. Free

This amazing little app has a comprehensive global database of the Jewish institutions including shuls, minyan location & schedules, Kosher restaurants and mikvehs, Zemanim & Siddur.  Database features:

10,000 synagogues worldwide, 4,000 minyans location organizing 50k prayers a week across the globe,

4,000 kosher restaurants in morethen 100 countries, 1,500 mikvehs globally.

Synagogues by Lost Tribe Apps $0.99

Ever found yourself far from home and you had a need to find the local Jewish community of the area?  The app has a database of almost 5,000 shuls.  The database is listed by denomination.  This is a very handy tool to have on your device.

cRc Kosher by Davka Corporation (iPhone)  free

This app was created for the Kosher consumer and it makes shopping for Kosher so much easier.  The cRc Kosher includes updated Kosher product lists, the cRc's Fruit & Vegetable guide, as well as a listing of over 80 Kosher agencies worldwide recommended by the cRc.  New Features of v.1.1 - cRc Passover information for 2011.

iYahrzeit by Nunky Pty Ltd (iPhone) $1.99

Store & Receive notifications of your important Yahrzeits.  Calculate Yahrzeit dates using the Gregorian or Hebrew Calendar.

Jewish Cal by Crowded Road (iPhone) $15.99

If you ever wanted to learn how to read Hebrew, this app is a little gem for those on the go. There is a free trial version and a pay version.

This app allows you to quickly check the candle lighting times, havdalah times and parsha for the week in any location in the world.

Chabad Connect by Chabad Connect (iPhone) free

Find the nearest Chabad house.  This app includes hundreds of Chabad houses, kosher restaurants, libraries and Mikvahs world wide.

iShabbat by Behrman House Digital (iPhone) $2.99

Now you can learn or practice the blessings for Shabbos.  This program includes:

Candle-lighting, blessings over children, Kiddush, Hamotzi, Havdalah blessings too.

The Chanting melody for the full Kiddush is included also.  Record & Playback yourself practcing the prayers.
