Over the weekend, I came in to a very lucrative deal where I was able to purchase a piece of unique hardware with accompanying software. The Journey to Wild Divine: The Passage.

This was created back in 2003 and it was the first of its kind, an adventure gaming series that uses active feedback as part of its game interface. Within the game instructions, you’re required to wear three magic rings on the opposite hand that you control your mouse. The three magic rings are actually part of the proprietary hardware created for the Wild Divine Project called The Lightstone. The Lightstone was created in the very beginning, but upon further discovery at their website, they’ve replaced it with a newer version called The IOM.

The functionality of the Lightstone or IOM receives your active feedback from your fingertips. With this feedback being processed in to the game, it aids you in re-learning how to control your breathing and how to activate and control the Chi, or life-force that surrounds you. Please don’t confuse bio feedback with active feedback, as bio feedback is for medical usage only, by a licensed medical operator, where active feedback is for entertainment and self awareness.

I’ve not seen any other software out there that offers what The Wild Divine project does with this interactive game and expansion pack. I’ve tested Virtual Reality interfaces, but mainly they’re all optic based, some with sensors to track where you’re looking and/or head movement, however The Journey to Wild Divine is the first that utilizes the active feedback and won’t function without some signal from you, the player. If you take off the three magic rings (the active feedback sensors) the game pauses, and requires about 23-30 seconds to recalibrate and the game resumes.

The Wild Divine Project was founded in 2001 and their flagship software released in 2003. What makes the game interesting is that there’s a collaboration of knowledge from many well-known authors. Deepak Chopra, M.D., Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Andrew Weil, Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., Stephen Cope, Nawang Khechog, Sharon Salzberg, for a brief bio on each of them, please click here.

With the wealth of knowledge combined, plus the computer graphic visions of Corwin Bell the creator of The Journey to Wild Divine what you have Is more then a game, it’s an experience of philosophy, energy, and yoga, helping one become more then they are, and with pleasing visuals its easy to get lost in the wonderment of the game, I myself have only wandered for a few hours and barely scratched the surface of the full environment.

All in all, this is a masterpiece of technology, of user-interaction via active feedback and mouse control. There are lessons within lessons, at times you’ll need the actual assistance of somebody else to help you complete other quests within the game, and the main sensory input is you, your

energy, your frequency that your heart is generating every second of every day.

There is an update that's 1.3gb in file size, that I highly recomend that you download from the company before running the software, it updates all the programming codes, graphics, etc and makes the interface so smooth, the only thing missing is a Head Mounted Display (HMD), if you own one, I HIGHLY recomend that you use it, with the Lightstone or IOM interface, it truly would make this experience life-like!

I can’t wait for the new product, to see what 8 years of graphic advancement, hardware technology and the will to bring something forth truly different and yet amazing.
