Recently I came across a problem for somebody who uses an iPhone and has hand entered over 200+ addresses by hand, and never synced the phone to the computer. If you have an iPhone you know this can be a problem, as the iTunes interface wants to erase the phone before it syncs the data to a device that has never been synced at that location before.

Well you can imagine the fear of "I can't loose my contacts, they don't live anywhere else" type of comment. I figured with over a million apps and growing somebody must have thought of this and found a way to do the Impossible, export your iPhone contacts without using the iTunes interface. I am happy to say; here at n3rd4u.com we have the answer.
Beach House Software created Contact Export and its only $1.99¢
The program works like this: both the computer and the iPhone has to be on the same network. What that means to you is if you're at home, and you have a wireless connection/network both the computer and the iPhone have to be also on your network. If you're at work, get your work computer and iPhone on the guest wireless network (if one is available for you to use, and your company permits it), or go to a coffee shop and use their network, public library, etc.
Next you will obviously have to purchase the app and install it to your iPhone. When you turn it in, you will see a prompt
to start the program, once started you will be given a URL address you will have to type into your browser, for this I would recommend Safari. Once you enter in the URL provided you'll see a web interface
with some export options. I would recommend that you select .vcard as your export method, as you can just drug and drop that file into your Apple Address book app on your computer.
Presto, you have just exported your iPhone contacts without using iTunes. Now you can safely connect to iTunes, turn on the contact sending and when it erased your contacts from your phone, it will full the contacts that are now in your address book and reinvest them to your iPhone, the best part is, now when you sync, you'll have everything on hand.

this little app is well worth anyone who finds himself or herself in this pickle, also it’s a great way to just make a backup copy regardless. The app is designed to work with both iPhones and the iPod-Touch series devices.
