While I was coping a file from my USB memory stick, I was wondering why it was taking so long via Windows 7, and a buddy of mine M.J. hit me up with this little tidbit, TeraCopy by Code Sector. At n3rd4u.com we always try to find you the best mods to make your computing usage smoother.

Code Sector has a free app called TeraCopy. It’s Windows 7 64bit friendly and the key feature, copying files is a synch. TeraCopy adjusts the buffers to reduce seek times; this helps by cutting down the wait time.  What took 4 minutes to transfer from a Macintosh tower to my Sony 8gb memory stick, took almost ½ of that time to transfer it back to my HDX-18.

Other key features include: Pause & resume file transfers / Error recovery / Interactive file list / Shell integration / Full Unicode support. All this is via the free version. If you want to get the TeraCopy Pro you get: Copy/Move to favorite folders / Select files with the same extension/same folder / Remove selected files from the copy queue and so much more.

From Code Sector’s site: Code Sector was started in 1999 to develop intuitive, yet powerful, personal and small-business applications for Microsoft Windows.

At Code Sector we are committed to delivering the best user experience we can. We strive for perfection in our quest to build the fast, stable and easy to use applications.
